It seems we lose one every year in Southern Maryland. I bike primarily on the Western Shore and I feel just as safe there as I do about anywhere else. I agree, we could use more multi-use trails. Just to name a few: Indian Head Rail Trail and Laurel Springs in Charles and Three Notch Trail in St. Mary's. Next on my to do list? The trails in Calvert Cliffs State Park. Absolutely tragic. My teenager likes to run 15 miles at a time, but there is no place really safe and I worry about him.
